Changes to the TradesAPI contractor license verification API, newest first. Today it covers 51 state jurisdictions (all 50 states plus DC) and 16 city boards. For whether a state is answering right now, see the live status page.
In Texas, one license number can belong to several TDLR licenses held by the same person, like an expired apprentice license and an active master electrician license. When you send just the number with a trade, we now return the license that matches that trade and prefer the active one. Before, an active master electrician could come back as expired.
Oregon results now include the contractor's workers' comp employer status from the CCB, Exempt or Nonexempt, under insurance_info.workers_comp.employer_status. Nonexempt means the contractor must carry workers' comp. The CCB does not publish the carrier or policy dates, so those are not included. Read more
When a monitored license changes, the dashboard now shows each changed field on its own line, like Trade: General -> HVAC, instead of raw data. Each monitor shows when it was last checked and when it last changed. States and cities show by name, and verification history tells a license that was not found apart from one that is not valid.
GET /search now works in these four states, so you can find a license when all you have is the contractor's name.
Colorado electrical lookups no longer match chiropractic licenses that share the EL code. Electrical contractor, residential wireman, plumbing contractor, and residential plumber licenses are now included. When one number belongs to different people under different license types, the trade you ask for decides which one comes back.

When a state board is down, its guide page now says so and points to the status page, instead of promising a lookup that would fail. Read more
A start-to-finish guide: the request, the response shape, and an example you can run. Read more
New York City Department of Buildings results now include license enforcement actions such as suspensions, revocations, and fines.
Arizona results now include the contractor's current surety bond in bond_info.
Sandbox keys can monitor test licenses and flip them on demand, so you can see a monitoring webhook arrive before you go live.
Fixed a bug where an event that reached the same webhook through both a monitor and a subscription could hold up deliveries. Each event now goes to each webhook once.
Delaware results now list each disciplinary action with its type and date, not just a yes or no flag.
Colorado results now return every disciplinary case on a license. Before, only one case came back.
San Antonio contractor licenses are now covered. Add city=sanantonio to a Texas lookup. Read more
Every new API key includes 50 free verifications. No credit card to start.
